About this policy

Bill Bee is operated by Adrian. This policy covers the Bill Bee app and billbeeapp.com (together, the “Service”). “Bill Bee,” “we,” and “us” refer to Adrian as the operator of the Service and the person responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us using the details below.

The information we handle depends on the features you use. You can keep a local ledger without signing in. Signing in with Apple or Google does not, by itself, upload your local expense records or enable cloud synchronization.

Information we handle

  • Account information. If you sign in, we receive an account identifier and the information your sign-in provider makes available, such as your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address. Supabase handles authentication and account sessions. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
  • Ledger information. The app stores the groups, member names, expenses, income, recorded transfers, amounts, currencies, dates, categories, tags, notes, and payment-method labels you enter or import. These records are stored on your device. If you use a workspace with synchronization enabled, its records and changes are also sent to the connected Bill Bee backend.
  • Preferences and session information. The app stores settings such as appearance, language-related preferences, and display options. Sign-in and connected workspaces use session tokens and, where needed, installation or device identifiers to maintain access and synchronization.
  • Technical information. Hosting, authentication, and connected backend services may process IP addresses, browser or device information, request times, and error or security logs to deliver and protect the Service.
  • Support messages. If you contact us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. Please avoid sending passwords or unnecessary financial details.

Payment-method labels and recorded transfers are bookkeeping information. Bill Bee does not connect to your bank account or move money between group members.

How we use information

We use information to provide the features you request: maintaining accounts, organizing records, calculating balances and summaries, processing imports and exports, and supporting sharing or synchronization where enabled. We also use it to respond to requests, diagnose problems, prevent abuse, protect accounts, and meet legal obligations.

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the Service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing it, compliance with legal obligations, or your consent where required. You can withdraw consent for optional processing without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use your expense records for targeted advertising.

Sharing and providers

When you share a group through a connected workspace, the group’s information is available to members according to the workspace’s permissions. Invitation links can let other people join; share them only with the intended recipients.

Exports, spending recaps, and other content you choose to share leave the app through the destination you select. Review the names, amounts, and other details before sharing. Recipients may retain their own copies.

We use service providers to operate the Service, including:

  • Supabase for account authentication and session management. See Supabase’s privacy information.
  • Apple and Google when you choose their sign-in services. Their handling of your provider account is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google Firebase Hosting to deliver this website. See Firebase’s privacy and security information.
  • Cloudflare for website delivery, security, and website usage and performance analytics. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and Web Analytics data collection information.

Providers process information as needed to perform their services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the Service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Service, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

Website and cookies

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits and page performance. Cloudflare adds a script that collects usage and timing metrics, such as pages visited, referring websites, browser and device type, country, and page loading performance. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not track individual visitors across its customers’ websites. We do not use these metrics for targeted advertising.

Our hosting and website delivery providers also process network information, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and maintain security. Images and styles are served with the website.

If you follow a link to another service or use a hosted sign-in flow, that service may use cookies or similar technologies under its own policy.

Storage and retention

Local records and preferences remain on your device until you remove them or the app’s data. Your device’s backup settings may also create copies managed by your operating-system or backup provider. Uninstalling the app does not delete a hosted account or records already synchronized to a server.

We retain hosted account information and, where applicable, synchronized records for as long as needed to provide the Service and handle legitimate security, support, and legal requirements. Deleted information may remain in backups or restricted logs until those copies are removed through the relevant retention process. We do not promise immediate removal from every backup.

Our providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, transfers are subject to safeguards required by applicable data protection law.

Your choices and rights

You can use local ledger features without a hosted account, edit or delete records where you have permission, export records using the app’s available export tools, and choose what to include in shared content. Device permissions can be changed in your device settings.

To request deletion of your hosted Bill Bee account or personal information, email us using the contact below. Signing out, revoking Apple or Google access, and uninstalling the app do not by themselves delete that account. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder. Do not send us your password.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, obtain a copy of, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights. We will handle requests within the time required by applicable law and explain any lawful limitations.

Deleting your account may not remove records other group members are entitled to keep, information required for legal purposes, or copies that recipients have independently exported or shared.

Security

We use safeguards appropriate to the information and services involved, including account access controls and secure session handling. No storage system or network transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device, sign-in accounts, exports, and invitation links.

Children’s privacy

Bill Bee is not intended for children under 13, or anyone below the minimum age required to use the Service in their location. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the Service or our practices change. We will publish the updated policy here and change the date above. If a change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it before applying that change.
